Doç. Dr. Burcu SARI UĞURLU

Burcu SARI UĞURLU received her BA in the Department of Early Childhood Education at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Çanakkale-Turkey, in 2009 and completed her MA in Early Childhood Education at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Çanakkale-Turkey, in 2012. For her MA degree, she undertook a study that involved developing a scale for determining phonological awareness skills for the early childhood period. She received her Ph.D. investigating the effects of electronic storybooks on young children’s word learning. During her Ph.D., she studied at the Department of Education and Child Studies, Leiden University-The Netherlands, as a “Visiting Researcher” for six months. She is currently working as an Assistant Professor at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Canakkale-Turkey, in the department of Child Development. Her research interests are the impact of storybook reading on children’s emergent literacy development and the effects of digital storybook reading on children’s word learning and story comprehension.
